Reimbursement Eligibility of Ceres Medicinal Products by Statutory Health Insurance

(Reimbursable as part of statutory health insurance benefits)

Health insurance funds may reimburse non-prescription, pharmacy-only medicines (so-called OTC medicinal products) as a voluntary benefit under their statutes. This generally includes homeopathic medicinal products and thus also the Ceres medicinal products. Around 70 statutory health insurance funds currently include OTC medicinal products as a benefit under their statutes. For the insured members of these health insurance funds, this means that the fund reimburses them the costs for these medicinal products.

How does reimbursement work?
To receive reimbursement, you need a private prescription or a Green Prescription from a doctor. Please note: Prescriptions from a Heilpraktiker are not recognised.

For the cost reimbursement of such a medicinal product, you must submit the receipt from the pharmacy along with the Green Prescription to your health insurance fund. Often the pharmacy will directly note the purchase price on the Green Prescription. The amount reimbursed varies depending on the fund. In addition, most funds have budget limits up to which they cover the costs. The benefits themselves also differ significantly.
Please therefore always check with your health insurance fund whether and to what extent your fund will cover the costs.
